The Research Group on Advanced Switching and Communication Technologies (ADSCOM) is part of the Telematics Engineering Department at University Carlos III of Madrid.
The Group is has expertise in switching and networking, and is led by Professor Dr. David Larrabeiti.
Our team strongly believes that research must be application-oriented. In our view, no research can be considered successful if the resulting theoretical breakthroughs haven't been integrated in an industrial product. Thus we focus our activity on creating and demonstrating novel concepts on networking technology, by means beyond-state-of-the-art prototypes and close co-operation with industry.
We base our activity on a solid knowledge of networking fundamentals, a complementary set of creative motivated researchers, and excellent programming and system integration skills.
The team has also experience in EU programme projects, promotes the mobility of their researchers (DTU-Photonik (Denmark), University of Stanford (USA), Ericsson Finland, are among the latest visits) and welcomes excellent visiting researchers (see the Excellence Chair program of our University), postdoc researchers and phD students from all over the world. Our latest research is focused on optical networks (access, metro and core), fast packet processing, traffic analysis and its application to homeland security. We also give training courses on networking technologies to industry, including MPLS/GMPLS and their applications (VPN, traffic engineering), routing, IPv6, network planning and design, and next generation optical switching systems.
